8 Days in Denmark part II

Hubby bought himself a comfy armchair at a charity store in Denmark

Oak, in great condition and appears not to have been used much atall.

The bedlinen is what I bought at the same charity store - will become backing for two patchwork quilts I am collecting material for. Will get back to that later :)

Mannen kjøpte seg en flott gammel ørelappstol på brukten i Danmark

Eik, nesten ikke brukt og i fin stand.

Sengetøyet i stolen har jeg kjøpt på same brukten, skal bli bakstykke til to lappequilter jeg samler stoff til, kommer tilbake til det :)

Well, that was a few pictures from this years Summer vacation in Denmark. Summer really did come and go very quickly. The irony of it is that we had a very cold summer, all the warm weather is coming now...after school has started. I don`t really care though, here in Norway we have a saying: "There is no bad weather, only bad clothes" I live by that ;) dress correctly and the weather doesn`t need to stop you doing most anything ;)

Hope you all have a great weekend and a very warm welcome to new follower My Grandmas Soul. 

Off to a big junk and antiques market with the rest of family Winkel :)

To let...birds only...

You may remember I bought a bird house to paint some time ago - this is the result of an hour with the paint brush

Dere husker kanskje at jeg kjøpte et fuglehus som skulle males for en tid tilbake - dette er resultatet av en time med malekosten

This one I bought finished - come spring there will be three houses to let in the trees round here.

Denne kjøpte jeg ferdig - til våren er det tre fuglehus til leie i trærne her oppe.

Bits and bobs - lantern found at a junk shop for a small sum.

Ting og tang som folk (jeg) har bruk for - fjøslykt kr 30 på loppis.

Autumn colours - going to make a wreath out of some of this beautiful heather.

Høstfarger på heia - det må bli en krans av noe av denne herlige lyngen.

Changing Seasons - I`m lovin` it

Summer...yet a little while longer

Not the warmest or sunniest of Summers, but still

Summer

Sommer ...i noen uker til

ikke den varmeste sommeren, men likevel

sommer

We have ignored rain, wind and chilly days

and done our time at the beach

walking bare foot

and eating ice creams :)

Det finnes ikke dårlig vær bare dårlige klær

er mottoet denne sommeren

og ellers i året for den slags skyld.

Vi har badet og spist is og sprunget barføtt i gresset

uansett vær :)

Somehow knowing the seasons change so drasticly here north

makes every season sharper to the sences somehow...

The wild strawberries taste sweeter

because I know I won`t be able to eat them for a whole year

soon....

Fordi årstidene skifter så drastisk her nord

blir hver årstid mer levende for sansene på en måte...

Markjordbærene smaker så søtt...

fordi det vil gå et helt år før jeg får smake dem igjen

Though Autumn is my favourite time of year

I plan to enjoy the last few weeks of chilly wet Summer

and especially the few lovely sunny days

that are sure to come aswell...

Jeg elsker høsten

men akter å nyte sommerens siste uker

uansett vær

litt sol blir det sikkert

nesten garantert...

My Spring and Summer project is almost at it`s closure

some sewing and blocking

and it`s ready for the cold seasons

with a hot cup of tea, a good book and the candles lit.

Holiday to the coast - Ferietur til kysten

A holiday visit to the coast

Here are a few snapshots from the coastal town of Kristiansand -

These swans were on a little beach, hoards of small children on the one side and Swan family on the other. I have never seen such peaceful swans, papa protected if anyone came too near, but made very little fuss otherwize.

Tea for two

How about tea on the terrace this fine Summer morning Old Ted? Why thank you Tinkel tail, that would be most agreeable!

Two old friends share a pot of tea and watch the forest come to life after a short night.

To gamle venner deler en kanne te og nyter synet av skogen som våkner fra en kort sommernatt.

Two old friends who began their journey in the arms of a little boy with soft fair curls,

many years ago, 

under an African sky.

To gamle venner som begynte sin livsreise i armene på en liten gutt

med myke lyse krøller,

for mange år siden,

under afrikas himmel.

Who`s got my Summer?

It should be here, it`s July already

and yet I find myself wanting to light the fire and get a blanket out.

Oh well...

the rain is keeping everything green isn`t it...

and I still have the pictures from

Last Summer

to enjoy dont`t I ;)

Sofar I have spent the Summer sightseeing and picknicing with my family. Nothing beats a really good homemade lunch with soggy tomato sanguages, sausage rolls or salad and crunchy bacon slices! Be it rain and blanket or sunscreen weather :)!

Will be back with some rainy updates shortly, unless we float away...

Another week...

and the schools break up for the Summer.

Where did the Spring go...honestly?

The summer feeling has yet to come though as our weather has been cold, rainy and windy with temperatures down to 3 celcius.



What gives you that special summer feeling? Makes you enjoy the moment and load the batteries toward another cold winter?

I`m hoping for some quiet summer evenings, pottering in the garden on late evenings, a cup of tea at hand. Fishing from our small boat, tenting on the islands and cooking dinner out in the open air. Swimming in the lake, eating strawberries out of the garden. Enjoying the small moments.

Bunting for a new project

Vimpler til et nytt prosjekt



Fikk to herlige filleryer av min svigermor her om dagen, hun er en meget nøysom dame og har vevd dem selv som ung av kles, gardin og sengetøysrester. Herlig myke å gå på med bare føtter.

My mother-in-law gave me two lovely woven mats the other day. She is a very thrifty lady and has woven them herself in younger days of scraps and leftovers. So lovely and soft for bare feet.

I do so love this old bowl. It has a hairline crack on the other side, but I just think it gives it character. Just look at the beautiful crackled pattern. Can`t wait to fill it with strawberries from the garden.

Jeg er så glad i denne nydelige gamle bollen. Den har en tynn sprekk i den andre siden, men jeg synes det er med på å gi den sjel. Se det nydelige krakelerte mønsteret. Gleder meg til å fylle den med jordbær fra hagen min.

Two creative projects finished. A granny square blanket and a little cosy penguin jersey/ t-shirt.

Life is a bumpy ride at the moment, but goodness how much it means to have these colourful little projects to occupy the mind with.

To kreative prosjekter ferdige. Et teppe i bestemorsruter og en liten genser med pingviner.

Livet er fullt av fartsdumper for tiden, men duverden så mye sånne fargerike små prosjekter betyr, noe positivt å oppta tankene med.

Weather has been wonderful the past week with temperatures up to 35 degrees celsius, lots of time outside. Yesterday the Northern wind decided to sweep over us again and temperatures dropped to 8 at the lowest. Well well, suppose it`s the price one pays for living so far north.

 Været har virkelig slått om her, med 35 grader på det varmeste til 8 grader igårmorres. Den nordavinden er lunefull gitt.

Koselig fuglehus klar til et malingstrøk, kjøpt på panduro for den nette sum av kr 100,- :)

Bonfire season is over now until September, but just a quick snapshot from our last dinner over an open fire. Can`t let the dog loose in the woods now, a wolf has been coming a bit close. Chewed up the neighbours dog pretty bad. I`m not worried but I don`t think Jenny (our golden retriever) would like an encounter.

Bålsesongen er over nå, men et kjapt stemningsbilde av en av vårens siste middager over flammene. Kan ikke slippe hunden løs i skogen nå for tiden, en ulv har kommet ganske nær og angrepet naboens hund. Stakkars Jenny (vår Golden), hun vil nok helst slippe å treffe gråbein.
