The nutty notions of a junkaholic

My garden pond to-be,
come spring I`m taking my pick and digging it down in my new lawn.
My father- and mother-in-law are both in their eighties and couldn`t cope with a bathtub anymore, so they went out and bought a shower cabinet.
And why waste a perfectly good bath?!
Nonsense!

view from the tub...
quite a struggle getting out I found...
for a woman of my age...

utsikt fra karet...
men jammen ikke helt enkelt å karre seg ut
for en dame i min alder...

Love the Autumn colours
funny to think
that the lake will soon be covered in
ice...

Elsker høsten og fargene
kontrastene
snart er dette vannet dekket av
is...

Put it down! Her mother scolded.
You never know where that`s been!
Her daughter stared at her defiantly
a large piece of railroad iron in her clasp, red in the face because of it`s weight - NO!
I`m not taking that with me home, no way!
The girl shook her head,
I want it, I`m going to use it...for
...something...!

I have always loved junk -
or in my eyes
treasure!

My parents saved up and got new furniture and buildt a new house,
I loved the old furniture
with it`s creaks and squeaks,
worn patches
and broken springs.
And I loved my old farm house
with it`s attic full of memories
and barn full of strange gadgets.

I loved
stones
metal cans
old suitcases
pieces of old pottery -
a big old badger dug out from under the barn
I loved lugging stuff home
once
a dead duck
found under a boat house
...not quite sure why I took that though :D

I`m easy to please
and cheap to keep

...wish I had that piece of railroad iron though
...it would have made a great book support ;)

  2. I think there is something quite romantic about being a "saver". Do you think we look at junk with what could be and what possibilities it has? I was always dragging things home that I "found" in the neighbor's trash pile as a child. Not much has changed. I still love junk.
